Amplitude Imposer

Free VST plugg-ins Amplitude ImposerTakes 2 stereo inputs and imposes the amplitude envelope of the first one on the second one. Also has a threshold level for the second input, so that when the signal falls below it, it is amplified up to the threshold, to give a greater signal to be amplitude modulated. You'll need a relatively flexible host (i.e. one that allows you to have 4 inputs and 2 outputs for an effect). This software is opensource. Go to the author's site to get the source.

MS tools

Free VST plug in MS toolsThis is a bunch of "tools" (seems like I have a predilection for bundles...) intended to process stereo streams but focusing on middle and side instead of left and right.
The idea is *really* simple but the effects can be subtle and powerful.
- msEncode and msDecode : These to ones are just converters mapping M -> L and S -> R so that you can put your own effects between the coder and the decoder. The effects below are just some hard-coded ones.
- msComp : This one uses the same compression algorithm as my "classic" compressor, but focus on the Middle signal without touching at the Side. A typical use of this effect is to boost a mix without touching at the stereo image.
- msBalance : 2 separate gains for the Middle and side signals.
- msSwap : it just swap the Middle and Side. You can use it before msComp if you want to compress the side instead of the Middle.
- msDelay : This is a simplified version of analog delay that you can use to delay either the middle or the side.

Quadmix

Free VST Filters QuadmixQuadmix mono is the inverse of Quadpan mono. It is a utility plugin for modular programs like audiomulch and bidule which takes four inputs and sends them to one output. The volume for each input is controlled by the position of a ball on the XY pad. If the ball is in the top left hand corner, the audio will only come from the first input etc. If it is in the middle the signal is spread evenly between all the inputs. The ball can be controlled by two lfos (assigned to the X and Y co-ordinates) which allow a variety of different patterns to be created. There are 16 preset shapes included.
Quadmix stereo is the same except it takes four stereo inputs and has one stereo output

Stereo Enhancer

Stereo Touch 1.3

This effect works with mono stream generating stereo stream. Sworl

Free VST plug_ins SworlA round-panner that creates a circular panning effect by modulating the audio volume in a circle (quieter at the back, louder at the front) as it pans. Also features a low pass filter with cutoff that can also be modulated by the same signal as modulates the volume, lowering the cutoff as the signal gets quieter.
