Or any other cyclical pitch variation. The pitch change cycles are locked to VST time position. Very precise frequency control (down to a ten-thousandth of a Hz). Stereo processing.

Free VST plugg-ins Buffer Synth v1.10Buffer Synth is a "shaper" allowing you to transform the sound through a graphic interface. It writes the input audio to a buffer and them lets you 'play' it (i.e. control the size of the buffer, and the speed at which it's played through) - works best if you've got a MIDI keyboard connected. I know the name's a misnomer, but I couldn't think of anything else to call it.

Formant filter
Free VST plug_ins Formant filterFormant filter is a mono vst effect that uses a bank of five band pass filters to put the formant peaks from one sound onto another. It includes vowel presets but you can input your own values using the custom formant mode. There is an Lfo to control the formant shift and also a silder which has a range of two octaves. This slider responds to CC#1 (mod wheel).

Gatecomb
Free VST Filters GatecombGatecomb is a stereo comb filter. The frequency of the comb filter is controlled by an AHDSR envelope which is either triggered in sync with the sequencer or by the the incoming audio reaching a certain threshold. There is also a filter to control the sounds (which can sometimes be very brutal). When processing a stereo track, the right fiter can be offset by octaves or semitones.

Minion
Free VST plugins MinionWhen you just have to have four filters being modulated by a total of twelve LFOs, you need Minion!
It's got balls, you see. Four of them, pinging and swinging their way around an innovative XYZ pad that's used to control the plug-in and to give visual feedback. And for each ball, there's an effect module, and each of those can produce one of a variety of filter effects, including several filter/distortion combinations. Minion also comes with numerous presets that demonstrate the range of audio warping possible.

Stretch & Squash v1.01
Free VST Filters Stretch & Squash v1.01Does exactly what it says on the tin. Basically, a sine wave is used to modulate the speed at which the input signal is played back at (i.e. stretching and squashing the audio). To do this, a buffer is employed, which also allows the input audio to be output in reverse, hence the direction button which can be seen above. This is another plugin which probably doesn't have too many practical uses, but I quite like the sounds it makes. Most of this plugin's functionality can now be found in The Modulator 2 (along with a tempo-sync-able oscillator).

Free VST plugins VReorderThis effect chops up a fixed loop length of incoming audio into 16 parts and allows you to position each of the parts in any order and specify the level, pan, and whether each part is reversed. You can really mutate a drum beat or vocal part, or just make a single snare drum reversed and not touch the rest. You have to use this effect to truly understand it, but it can add that touch of variety to a basic drum pattern, or just alter that vocal just enough to make it sound obscure and interesting.

Free VST plug in X-CitaAnalog style exciter for mastering purposes, inspired on the BBE Maximizer models. Its warm sound and simplicity of using makes this exciter very suitable to add some subtle brightness in the high frequencies, and also make the lows more dense. Apart from the mastering stage, you'll find that it can also make a good work on individual tracks.
